Carpark Resurfacing Launceston

Carpark Resurfacing work in progress in Launceston Tasmania

A worn-out carpark gives customers a bad first impression before they've stepped inside. Cracked surfaces, fading lines, potholes around the entrance, all of it telegraphs that the business isn't paying attention.

We resurface carparks across Launceston and Northern Tasmania for cafes, retail strips, light commercial, churches, sporting clubs and small industrial sites. Most jobs are done over a weekend so you don't lose trading days.

Two main options: full removal + re-pour (when the existing surface is structurally failing) or overlay (when the underlying base is sound and just the surface needs renewal). We assess on site and tell you straight which one your job needs.

Why it matters

  • Replaces a worn customer-facing surface that costs you sales
  • Reduces trip-hazard liability from cracked or potholed surface
  • Weekend turnaround means no trading-day disruption
  • Line marking included in most jobs, done same day as the seal

THE PROCESS

How we do it

01

Site visit + scope quote

We measure, assess the underlying base, recommend overlay or full re-pour, quote both with line-marking included.

02

Schedule for off-trading days

Most jobs run Friday night through Sunday afternoon. Plant deliveries timed for early morning starts.

03

Prep (overlay or strip)

Overlay: light sweep + tack coat. Full re-pour: saw-cut perimeter, excavate, re-compact base.

04

Hot-mix lay + paver compaction

Hot mix delivered direct from the plant. Paver machine for areas over 100m², hand-screed for smaller zones.

05

Line marking

Once the surface is set, line marking applied, bays, disabled bays, directional arrows, no-parking lines, kerb edges.

06

Re-open Monday

Carpark reopens Monday morning fully cured and ready for trading.

COMPARISON

How it stacks up

Three ways to bring a tired carpark back to life. The right one depends on what's actually wrong with it.

AFTERCARE

Keeping the carpark looking sharp

Carparks see far more abuse than residential driveways — heavier vehicles, tighter turning, oil drips, and 7-day-a-week use. Annual maintenance is worth the small spend.

Yearly inspection

Walk the carpark every January. Note any cracks longer than 300mm, any edge separation at the kerb, any pothole start-points. Send us photos and we'll quote what's worth doing.

Crack sealing

Cracks 3mm or wider should be sealed within 6 months. Water getting into a crack is the start of every carpark failure. Budget about $5-8 per linear metre.

Line marking touch-up

Lines fade in 3-5 years depending on traffic volume. A re-paint is cheap and immediately makes the carpark look maintained. Budget $2.50/m of line.

Year 5 seal coat

A full seal-coat over the whole carpark at year 5 doubles the remaining life of the surface. Best done in autumn while the asphalt is still warm but the rain has eased.

Spot patches over re-surface

If only 20% of the carpark has failed, patch those bays now and budget for a full resurface in 5 years. Cheaper across the lifecycle than doing the whole thing twice.

FAQ

Carpark Resurfacing, common questions

Can you do the carpark in stages so we stay open?+

Yes, we can stage the work over multiple weekends, doing half the carpark at a time. Most clients prefer a single weekend close, but staged is an option.

Do you do line marking?+

Yes, included in most quotes. Bays, disabled bays, directional arrows, no-parking lines, kerb edges. Coloured marking (yellow no-parking, red fire lanes) included where specified.

How often should a commercial carpark be resurfaced?+

Overlay every 12–18 years for moderate-traffic carparks (50–200 cars/day). Full re-pour every 25–35 years. High-traffic carparks (200+ cars/day) need overlays every 8–12 years.

Can you fix cracks without doing the whole carpark?+

Yes, crack filling + targeted patching is a much cheaper option for carparks where the underlying surface is mostly sound. Budget $40–$80 per linear metre of crack filling + standard patch rates.

Do you handle council approval for commercial carpark works?+

If the works affect the kerb crossover or street, yes, we handle the City of Launceston paperwork. Within-boundary carpark works don't need council approval.
